Spanish media confirm date Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti is expected to leave his role as Real Madrid coach and take charge of the Brazil national team, according to recent reports from Spain.

Sources close to Valdebebas have reported that the 65-year-old, who has a contract with Madrid until 2026, has already informed his teammates of his intention to leave.

Ancelotti is expected to finish the season in La Liga before taking charge of Brazil in June, meaning he will not be involved in the Club World Cup in the summer.

Real Madrid will need to appoint an interim coach, with director Santiago Solari a possible candidate, or a permanent coach, with Xabi Alonso the frontrunner.

Ancelotti's son, Davide, has decided to pursue a career as a head coach and will only join his father in Brazil if he does not receive an attractive offer elsewhere.

The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has been tracking Ancelotti for some time now and they are hopeful that the Italian will sign a short-term contract once his departure from Spain is finalised.

Talks are ongoing and further talks are expected to take place later. If all goes according to plan, Ancelotti could sign the contract with the Brazilian next week.

Meanwhile, the CBF had also considered other candidates including Jorge Jesus, but Ancelotti had been their main target.

Madrid will now begin the search for a new coach and Alonso, who has been in contact with the club in recent months, is a strong candidate to take charge of Los Blancos.Telegraph/
