Diamant Gashi's father: If my son is 1% involved in the murder of the policeman, I won't even provide him with a lawyer

Fehmije Gashi, the lawyer for Diamant Gashi – one of those arrested as a suspect in the murder of police officer Muhamed Lika – has recounted the conversation she had with her client's father.

According to her, Diamant Gashi's father has been adamant in his stance, stating that he would not provide any support for his son if he turns out to be implicated in this case.

"This is what his father also tells me, who yesterday when he hired me, after we signed a contract only for the investigation phase, because he said that if my son is at least 1 percent implicated in this criminal offense, I will not even accept a lawyer, I will not provide him with anything," said lawyer Gashi.

She added that her client, who is the last on the list of those arrested, denies any involvement in the tragic event.

"For my client, who is the last listed, it is said that after committing the criminal offense, he sheltered her in his home, but my client is categorical that he was not even aware of what happened," she said.

The lawyer also highlighted the friendly relationship between Diamant Gashi's family and that of the deceased, emphasizing that this makes the situation even more difficult for the suspect's family.

"His family, as we Albanians are, has a friendly relationship with the family of the deceased, Muhamed Lika. Moreover, I am very sorry, especially since we were former colleagues in the Kosovo Police. I received the news from my father," Gashi added.

The arrested RB, EL, Sh.K, RM, DG and V.Ç. have appeared before the court as suspects in the planning and murder of Sergeant Muhamet Lika.

The Prosecution in Ferizaj has requested one month of detention for the six arrested.

Meanwhile, yesterday, the Basic Court in Ferizaj, Juvenile Department, approved the request of the Basic Prosecution of Ferizaj, for the imposition of a one-month detention measure against the minor RB as the main suspect in the murder of Sergeant Muhamed Lika, on April 1 in Kaçanik.

Muhamed Lika was killed on the steps of the building where he lived in Kaçanik on April 1st while returning from work.
