According to testimony given in 2012 before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Serbian nationalist politician Vojislav Seselj stated that Aleksandar Vučić, before joining his party, had served as a volunteer in a paramilitary unit during the Bosnian war.

In his testimony, Sesli said that Vucic had been under the command of Slavko Aleksic in the area of the Jewish Cemetery in Sarajevo – one of the most talked about points during the siege of the city.

This evidence is being used recently by Serbian lawyer Cedomir Stojkovic, who through a series of posts is claiming that Vucic may have been involved in the so-called "Sniper Safari" activities, a practice denounced for years, which involved the killing of civilians from high positions around Sarajevo.

Stojkovic has brought Seselj's statements back to the center of public debate, emphasizing that Aleksic's unit was stationed precisely in one of the locations frequently mentioned in reports about the use of snipers against civilians during the siege.

Meanwhile, international authorities and investigative institutions have previously addressed similar allegations, but so far there has been no court decision directly linking the individuals mentioned to the documented cases of killings of civilians in Sarajevo.

KWho is Aleksandar Vučić, a veteran politician who also served the infamous Serbian dictator, Slobodan Milošević, at a time when horrific crimes were committed in Kosovo and Bosnia?

Aleksandar Vucic was born on March 5, 1970 in Belgrade. In 1988, he completed his studies at the "Zemunska" high school and completed his university studies at the Faculty of Law, in 1994.

He joined the Serbian Radical Party in 1993, a member of which is also the fierce nationalist, who openly expresses his hatred towards Albanians, Vojslav Seshel. In the same year, Vučić was elected a member of the Parliament of Serbia, while in 1994, he became the General Secretary of the Radical Party. He held that position until 2008.

Vucic served the Milosevic regime devoutly during the times when they were committing murders, rapes, persecutions and deportations of the Albanian people.

In 2008, Vucic and Tomislav Nikolic founded the Progressive Party of Serbia. In October of the same year, he became the vice president of the party. After the general parliamentary elections in 2012, he was elected Minister of Defense and First Deputy Prime Minister, with the main task of fighting crime and corruption in Serbia.

Meanwhile, he continued to hold the office of Minister of Defense until July 28, 2012, when the Serbian government was reorganized.

Since then, Vučić has participated in the negotiating team in the negotiations that took place between Serbia and Kosovo in Brussels.

He was a signatory to the Brussels Agreement in April 2013. As of September 2013, he held only the position of First Deputy Prime Minister.

After the victory of the Progressive Party in the elections of March 16, 2014, he became the Prime Minister of Serbia on April 27, since then he started consolidating his power towards an authoritarian presidential system, capturing all the institutional mechanisms and censoring the free press.

Vučić held the position of Prime Minister until August 2016, and after the elections of April 24, 2016, he began a new term as Prime Minister of Serbia.
