Shocking twist in Maradona death investigation: Bodyguard arrested after discovery of messages

The dramatic investigation into the death of legendary footballer Diego Armando Maradona has taken a new turn after former bodyguard Julio Cesar Coria was arrested for making contradictory statements.

It's been four years since the death of one of the greatest footballers of all time. The medical team is currently on trial for alleged failures in his treatment.

Chief prosecutor Patricio Ferrari described his treatment as “reckless and deficient.” He also added that Maradona was in a “house of horrors” at the time of his death and that he was not allowed to return home after dangerous treatment and surgery for a brain clot.

After the six health workers, who have been on trial for some time, his former bodyguard Julio Cesar Coria, who worked with Maradona for years and was present at the time of his death, has now been arrested.

Coria was primarily a witness at trial, but the chief prosecutor later exposed contradictions in the statements.

The former bodyguard lied that he had not spoken to Maradona's doctor before his death and claimed he did not know him. However, WhatsApp messages revealed that the bodyguard and doctors were in constant contact before Maradona's death.

The bodyguard and the doctor went to the grill together, organized social gatherings and talked about Maradona's health. The chief prosecutor also stated that Coria had made several other false statements.

A criminal court on Tuesday ordered an investigation into the bodyguard for perjury, and he was subsequently arrested after being accused of lying under oath. /Telegraph/
