Sheremeti: Selimi should be declared innocent

Rexhep Selimi's lawyer, Furtuna Sheremeti, has stated that the Specialized Prosecutor's Office has failed to prove her client's guilt, describing the request for 45 years in prison as a sentence approaching life imprisonment.
"There is no evidence to support guilt on any of the counts in the indictment against Selimi. He should be declared innocent and there can be no question of a sentence," she said.
The closing statements of the defense for Selimi were concluded by lead attorney, Geoffrey Roberts, who questioned the credibility of the prosecution's evidence.
"The evidence against him is contradictory and lacks credibility and is unfounded. Especially the allegations that he participated in any alleged crime," Roberts said.
After the conclusion of Rexhep Selimi's defense, it is expected that Jakup Krasniqi's defense will begin its closing statements in this trial. /Telegrafi/
