Shekerinska: The partnership between NATO and the EU is of particular importance

The defense of the EU is of great importance for Europe and European security, but also for NATO, as it is inextricably linked to transatlantic security, said today NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Sekerinska in her speech at the Annual Conference of the European Security Agency in Brussels.

"As someone who comes from North Macedonia, and is not an EU 'insider', you might wonder if I am more competent to talk about NATO-EU cooperation. But, especially given my national origin, I believe that my country accurately demonstrates how important, valuable and beneficial NATO-EU cooperation is," said Shekerinska.

According to her, the close partnership between NATO and the EU is of particular importance, not only when it comes to supporting Ukraine, but also for rebuilding the transatlantic defense industrial base and strengthening resilience.

"Something I will strive for in my work as NATO Deputy Secretary General is for the two organizations to work even more closely together. That is why I am here with you today. Let me send this message and say that this NATO-EU partnership is of great importance to (NATO) Secretary General Mark Rutte. He is in regular contact with his colleagues across the EU institutions," Sheqerinska added./Telegraph/
