Several dead after vehicle plows into crowd at Vancouver street festival
A number of people have been killed and several others injured after a driver crashed his car into a crowd during a street festival in Vancouver, Canada.
Police added that the driver was detained after the incident, which occurred shortly after 20:00 p.m. local time. sky news.
People were in the area near 41st Avenue and Fraser Street for the "Lapu Lapu Day Block Party," which is named after a national hero of the Philippines.

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim wrote on Platform X that he was “shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific incident at today’s Lapu Lapu Day event.”
He added that "our thoughts are with all those affected and with the Filipino community of Vancouver during this extremely difficult time."
Meanwhile, videos posted on social media showed emergency crews at the scene, with several people lying on the ground - some of them appearing injured.
