Canadian Prime Minister reacts after tragedy at Vancouver street festival

Several people have died and several others have been injured after a driver crashed his car into a crowd during a street festival in Vancouver.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who is a candidate in Monday's federal election, wrote on X that he was "devastated" after learning about the incident at the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver.

"I offer my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those who lost their lives and those who were injured, to the Filipino Canadian community and to all those in Vancouver. We are all mourning with you," he wrote.


"We are monitoring the situation closely and are grateful for the quick response of first responders," Carney concluded.

Meanwhile, videos posted on social media showed emergency crews at the scene, with several people lying on the ground - some of them appearing injured.

Otherwise, Canadian police have already begun investigations and will soon issue the first announcement. /Telegraph/
