Sergio Ramos in talks with European giants after Mexico adventure ends

Sergio Ramos could be close to a return to European football after spending 2025 at Mexican club Monterrey.
Ramos is considered one of the greatest defenders of all time, winning 22 trophies during a 16-year spell at Real Madrid, including four Champions League titles.
The former Madrid star has been a free agent since the beginning of December, after his contract with Monterrey expired.
Despite turning 40 next month, Ramos is determined to continue his career at the highest level.
He even offered to play for free to return to his boyhood club, Sevilla, but his offer was rejected.

The decision not to bring Ramos back is related to the former Spanish international's ambitions to invest in the La Liga club, which would make him a rival in the management structures of current president, Jose Maria Del Nido Carrasco.
However, Sevilla is not the only option for Ramos to have one last go in Europe. According to Spanish journalist Roberto Gomez, Ramos is in talks with French club Marseille.
The report states that the Spanish defender's experience, leadership and competitive spirit constitute a "perfect fit" for the Ligue 1 club, which aims to increase its sporting ambitions.
The talks are moving in the right direction and no obstacles are currently expected, while official confirmation may come soon.
Marseille currently sit third in the league, nine points behind leaders and defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, who they face this weekend.Telegrafi/
