Security in the whole of Kosovo, and in particular in the northern part, is considered sensitive after successive incidents that occurred in the last two months.

Those familiar with the security situation in the country point out that Kosovo's institutions are facing challenges to guarantee security, especially in the north of Mitrovica, although they are trying to get the situation under control.

The expert on security issues, Avni Islami, has declared that the north of Kosovo is a bomb planted by the Government of Serbia.

"We have repeatedly emphasized that both in the past and today, the north of Kosovo, or more specifically North Mitrovica, is a bomb planted by the Government of Serbia together with the organized groups in the north of Mitrovica. Whenever they need it, whether for internal purposes or even on the international level, they destabilize the north of Mitrovica", says Islami for AktivPress.

He further adds that such developments are putting the security institutions of the Republic of Kosovo in an unfavorable position.

Meanwhile, for Burim Ramadani, aware of these circumstances, the security situation in the north of the country is under the control of the institutions, although he also estimates that in general the situation in the whole of Kosovo is sensitive.

Ramadani considers that the incidents in the north of Kosovo are being done for political reasons on the part of the Serbs.

"Security throughout Kosovo and in the north in particular continues to be sensitive, but under the control of the institutions. I see no serious indications of security breaches. Security institutions must constantly exercise increased vigilance, although isolated cases like these in the north do not pose a security challenge. So, I don't see a challenge to security in Kosovo, but isolated cases that have political messages", he declared.

The north of Kosovo has been the victim of several attacks that occurred especially against members of the Kosovo Police, KSF and KIA agents.

Two months ago, a Kosovo Police patrol was attacked in Zubin Potok, while in November of this year, the homes of members of the Serbian community of the KSF were attacked with explosive devices.

These developments not being enough, in the north of the country, two days ago, a bar where the former Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, was staying, was attacked with strong means.

Meanwhile, according to Avni Islam, the north of Mitrovica is being used for internal political purposes of "organized criminal groups with directives from Serbia" and is affecting the destabilization of the situation in the whole of Kosovo.

"This is not a good alarm for the institutions of Kosovo, because with all the dedication and work that is being done in the north of Kosovo, there is still a lot of work to be done for the security authorities of Kosovo to establish sovereignty and have it under control that part", he evaluates.

Meanwhile, according to Burim Ramadani, the presence of KFOR is also important for security in the north.

"In the municipalities in the north of Kosovo, the security institutions are present and perform their duties. However, the presence of KFOR is also an additional guarantee for the stability and security of Kosovo", emphasized the security expert.

AktivPress has also contacted the Kosovo Police through e-mail, regarding the specific cases and the overall security situation in the north of the country, but the KP has not given any response. /ActivePress/
