"The Flag of Dardania", Sejdiu reveals details about how the idea for the Kosovo flag came about

Former President Fatmir Sejdiu said that the "Flag of Dardania" was not an idea or part of the selection of the state flag.

"The flags were burned earlier. It was not the right way. But the Dardania flag is in the President's office. I was pressured to remove it but I did not accept it, as it is regulated by special regulations. The Dardania flag was not part of the selection, it was Ahtisaari's criteria and we agreed with them," said Sejdiu.

Sejdiu also said that in the period before Kosovo's declaration of independence, there were preparations for political diversion in terms of "slander and untruths" by a Serbian citizen in Kosovo, directly sponsored by two states, Russia and Serbia.

"In the Security Council and his arrival in Pristina was my idea. In July 2006, my motive was to let them come and see what Kosovo is like. His was to let them see Kosovo, a good one when the Serbs have no perspective. There were preparations to create political diversion, of the kind of slander and false presentation that we have no life in Kosovo, that we are persecuted and to tell the Security Council about it.

It was sponsored by Russia but also by Serbia. The man who had that burden was a Serb, or he appeared and had other words. There were other approaches, up to the burning of two gates. It was a test for both sides, both for Serbia to see if it dares to move further but also for Kosovo because there were also such people who do such actions, and we need to be careful," said Sejdiu.

Sejdiu emphasized on TV Dukagjini's "Debat Plus" that the manifestation of the people of Kosovo everywhere was a special manifestation of theirs since they did not go outside themselves and were an example of how to celebrate the joy of Kosovo's statehood.

"The manifestation of the people of Kosovo is special. They have been restrained and have not gone out of control. They have not been exuberant. Controlled in a positive sense. Even in Prizren, Prishtina, Gjilan, Berlin, Tirana, wherever they have gone, they have been an example of how to celebrate," Sejdiu added.

Sejdiu said that regarding sharing information about the state formation of Kosovo, he has never talked with family members from his close and extended circle.

"My father was a political prisoner, he never asked me. My wife didn't ask me either. Not even with the people close to me," he added.
