See why Tesla has recalled every Cybertruck on the road

Tesla has announced the recall of 46.096 Cybertruck units due to problems with exterior panels that can detach while driving.

The problem is related to a decorative panel on the top of the vehicle's roof, which is attached only with adhesive, which has proven to be unsafe and susceptible to damage due to environmental conditions.

Thus, the Cybertruck, the electric pickup truck that Tesla has long announced, adds another safety problem to an ever-long list – this is the eighth recall since deliveries began in late 2023. This comes at a time when Elon Musk's company is facing major challenges – falling sales and attacks on vehicles.

The reason for the recall of all Cybertrucks produced is the "cant rail," a decorative, corrosion-resistant panel that extends from the bottom of the windshield to the roof, above the windows, and to the rear doors.

Tesla has claimed that the strip was attached only with structural adhesive, but testing has shown that this adhesive is prone to breaking down under the influence of environmental conditions, which could lead to it detaching while driving.

To solve the problem, Tesla will use a more durable adhesive and strengthen the connection by welding a steel rod, which will be clamped to the vehicle's structure.

The Cybertruck has had a number of controversies and technical issues since its inception. Previous recalls have included loose cargo panels, loss of thrust, and various software and range issues.

Although some of them are resolved with remote updates, this requires mechanical intervention and sending the vehicle to a service center.

Meanwhile, users on Reddit and other forums have been reporting similar problems with panels falling for months, with one of the earliest cases occurring nine months ago. /Telegraph/
