A kindergarten teacher in St. Charles, Illinois has been arrested after allegedly giving several children flavored laxatives, tricking them into thinking they were candy, only to send them home with diarrhea because she felt "overwhelmed" with work.

Yizel J. Juarez has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering the life or health of children, writes oddity central.

Authorities said that the kindergarten staff has a rule that sick children must be sent home and not returned for 24 hours, and the 23-year-old took advantage of this rule to create some time for relaxation.

Parents had noticed intestinal disorders in their children for several weeks without a medical explanation, and after numerous complaints, police confirmed that laxatives had been given to children under the age of 2, telling them they were "candy."

Juarez, after being fired, voluntarily turned himself in to the police and was released with a set date to appear in court.

The harm caused to children, including problems with diarrhea and constipation, has worried parents and authorities are seeking any possible information from the public. /Telegraph/
