Samsung to double AI mobile devices to 800 million units this year

Samsung Electronics plans to double the number of mobile devices with "Galaxy AI" features this year, supported primarily by Google's Gemini model, reaching 800 million devices by 2026.
Co-CEO TM Roh said the company aims to integrate artificial intelligence into all products, functions and services as soon as possible.
The strategy is expected to give Samsung an advantage over rivals, including Apple and Chinese manufacturers, in the global AI race.
Galaxy AI includes search, generative editing, translation, and summarization tools, powered by Gemini and Bixby.
Meanwhile, a global shortage of memory chips is boosting semiconductor sector profits but putting pressure on smartphone costs.
Roh warned that price increases may be inevitable, with the global smartphone market expected to shrink next year. /Telegraph
