Russian military plane enters Polish airspace

A Russian Sukhoi Su-24MR military aircraft entered Polish airspace over the Bay of Gdansk for 1 minute and 12 seconds.

The plane flew 6.5 km (4 miles) inside Poland before changing course, reports reuters.

Poland claims that this violation occurred due to a defect in the navigation system, as Russia has also confirmed.


Polish soldiers announced that the flight path was changed after the intervention of a Russian navigator.

The plane was flying from the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. Poland's defense systems detected the plane immediately.

The incident is part of a pattern of Russian air provocations in the Baltic region. Polish Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak stressed the importance of rapid detection and response.

NATO allies have accused Russia of hybrid warfare, including airspace violations.

Poland's Foreign Ministry is reviewing the incident and considering a response. /Telegraph/
