"Rudiger is mentally ill" - former Real Madrid player 'hits' the German for his gestures in El Clasico

"Rudiger is mentally ill" - former Real Madrid player 'hits' the German for his gestures in El Clasico

Barcelona won the King's Cup for the 32nd time in history by defeating Real Madrid 3-2 after extra time, in a tense encounter.

Jules Koundé scored in stoppage time for Barcelona's celebration, where Real's players were nervous in the final moments, so Antonio Rüdiger received a red card from the bench for throwing a bottle at the referee.

The furious German defender was barely prevented by members of the coaching staff from entering the field.

Rüdiger's behavior was again commented on by Rafael van der Vaart, former Real Madrid player, calling the German mentally ill.

"Antonio Rüdiger is a mental patient. Sometimes he's a funny guy, sometimes he's an idiot. Today he was an idiot," the Dutchman declared after the match.

Van der Vaart made similar comments about Rüdiger a few days ago.

He said at the time: "As for Rüdiger, we all think it was intentional when he kicked an opponent... He played for Stuttgart when I was in Germany. He kicked me in the stomach and got a red card straight away... Yeah, you know, he's a bit of an idiot."

We recall that Rüdiger stepped on Arsenal player Lewis-Skelly during Real Madrid's elimination from the Champions League in the quarterfinals.

However, Rüdiger faces a large fine after Barcelona because he cursed at the match referee. /Telegraph/
