Ronaldo speaks openly about his rivalry with Messi and the relationship he had with the Argentine

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken in an interview about his rivalry with Lionel Messi, insisting that he has never had any problems with the Argentine.

The two greatest players of all time had a battle for almost two decades, with Ronaldo winning the Ballon d'Or five times, while Messi won it eight times.

Both have won championships in Spain and Europe – in England, Italy and France, while also winning with their national teams, with Ronaldo being declared the winner of the European Championship and Messi the World Cup.

In an interview with La Sexta, Ronaldo explained that he has never had problems with Messi, despite numerous debates from fans of both.

"I've never had a bad relationship with Messi, on the contrary," Ronaldo said.

When asked if the world will ever see a professional player who reaches the figures of Messi and Ronaldo, the Portuguese said that this is highly unlikely.

"I hope so, it would be good for football, but I think it's unlikely," he concluded.

Messi, currently 37, is playing for Inter Miami, while Ronaldo, who will turn 40 on February 5, is attempting to reach 1000 career goals with Inter Miami./Telegraph/
