Robert Lewandowski is now the third best scorer in the history of the top European leagues

Robert Lewandowski has moved up to third on the list of all-time top scorers in Europe's top five divisions.

The Barcelona forward scored twice in Sunday's win over Sevilla to take his tally for the club to 73, scoring his 365th and 366th career goals in Europe's top competitions.

With 366 goals, Lewandowski moves one ahead of a well-known name in the record books.

Gerd Muller, whose record for most Bundesliga goals in a calendar year was broken by the Pole in 2021, while his record of 365 goals also falls.

Lewandowski moves into joint third place, level with Tottenham legend Jimmy Greaves on 366 goals and behind only iconic football duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo finished his European career with 495 goals and once led the goalscoring charts before Messi took his tally to 496 in 2023.

The Argentine reached his tally in just 577 games across his time in La Liga and Ligue 1, while Ronaldo needed 626 to reach his milestone during his spells in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.

The chances of Lewandowski, who turned 36 in August, reaching the double are slim, although he could break the 400-goal barrier by the end of the season.
