Rizvanolli in Davos: Kosovo aims for clean and sustainable energy

The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, is participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Kosovo is represented with its space and a vision for economic development and sustainable energy.

In her speech, Minister Rizvanolli highlighted the achievements during the current mandate and the ambitious plans for the transformation of the energy sector in Kosovo.

"During our mandate, we have doubled exports and their investments. We have generated 33 percent more tax revenues, without increasing taxes, but by harmonizing the administration and digitizing over 100 administrative services," said Rizvanolli, RTK reports.

She also spoke about the challenges in the energy sector, highlighting the current dependence on lignite and the need to shift towards renewable energy sources.

"The theme of this panel, the use of clean energy for a sustainable future, is one of the areas where Kosovo has vision and demonstrates great ambition. Currently, over 90 percent of electricity is used from lignite. These resources, which have driven economic growth, no longer match our aspirations for a healthier environment and a cleaner planet," she stated.

Minister Rizvanolli announced Kosovo's concrete objectives in this regard.

"We aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent and increase renewable energy by 25 percent. We plan to build 1300 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity, including solar power," she said.

She added that Kosovo's energy transition will place citizens at the center of the process.

"This means maintaining affordability, protecting vulnerable consumers, and providing access to investment and energy efficiency for all. No citizen will be left behind in this process," concluded Rizvanolli.

This is the first time that Kosovo is represented with the "Kosovo House" at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
