Rexhep Selim's lawyer: History cannot be written in the courtroom

After a three-hour meeting with Rexhep Selimi in the Detention Chambers in The Hague, lawyer Rudina Jasini shared her thoughts on one of the most closely watched court trials in Kosovo's history.
"I have reflected a lot on what has happened in these 5 years or so of legal proceedings. With hundreds of hours of consultations and thousands of pages of documents reviewed and evidence analyzed," writes Jasini.
She announces that tomorrow the four KLA leaders will give their final speech in the courtroom, where the verdict is expected to be given in the coming months.
"This trial has turned into a theater of the absurd, where the prosecution has attempted to rewrite the history of the KLA and the fight for independence through distorted accusations," emphasizes Rexhep Selimi's lawyer.
But she adds that history cannot be written either in that courtroom or in the salons of Brussels and Washington.
"It is written with the sacrifice of the citizens of Kosovo, with the blood of freedom fighters and with the lives of martyrs. Freedom has a name!" adds Jasini.
She emphasizes that it has been an honor and privilege to represent one of the accused and expresses her conviction that justice will prevail. /Telegraph/
