Reuters reports what position Grenell may take in the Trump administration

Donald Trump is expected to begin the process of selecting his cabinet and other senior administration officials in the coming weeks after winning the November presidential election.

According to the agency Reuters, Richard Grenell is expected to take a post in the new Republican administration.

Grenell has been one of Trump's closest advisers on foreign policy matters. During the president-elect's first four-year term, he served as interim director of National Intelligence and ambassador to Germany.

In a September meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Trump included Grenell in a private meeting, the Telegraph reports.

Grenell's close ties to foreign leaders and his often unpredictable personality have made him a controversial figure, which could pose a new challenge to his Senate confirmation.

However, he is considered a front-runner for the role of National Security Adviser, a position that does not require Senate confirmation, although a post requiring Senate confirmation has not been ruled out.

Among the policies he has supported is the creation of an autonomous zone in eastern Ukraine to end the conflict there, an idea Kiev sees as unacceptable. /Telegraph/
