US Defense Secretary Says US Not Betraying Ukraine

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has denied that the US is betraying Ukraine.

Hegseth was asked by Sky News journalist Deborah Haynes ahead of the NATO meeting in Brussels whether the US plan is simply a betrayal of the Ukrainians who gave their lives and a reward for dictators who use military force to get what they want.

"Well, that's your language, not mine, certainly not treason," he replied, the Telegraph reports.

"As I said to our allies yesterday, we recognize the extraordinary commitment that has been made over many years, and no country, as President Trump has emphasized, has made a greater commitment to the Ukrainian mission than the United States of America. $300 billion has been provided," the US Secretary of Defense added.

"So the United States has invested in stabilizing those front lines after Russia's aggression. There is no betrayal there," Hegseth emphasized.

"There is a recognition that the entire world and the United States are invested and interested in peace, a negotiated peace, as President Trump has said, by stopping the killing," Hegseth concluded. /Telegraph
