Republika Srpska adopts draft of new constitution – state within the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Deputies of the Special Assembly of Republika Srpska approved the Draft of the new Constitution of this entity, which is contrary to the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and contains many problematic laws.

A general majority was required for the adoption of the Draft Constitution in the Special Assembly of the Republika Srpska, just as it was required for the approval of the proposal for a decision to begin the process of adopting the new Constitution of the RS, however, for the final adoption of the new Constitution, the governing coalition will need broader support, two-thirds.

Tonight, 58 MPs present voted for the Project, of which 50 were in favor, as was the case yesterday, while 8 were against and there were no abstentions. The Special Assembly has 83 MPs, and a large number of opposition members did not participate in the vote, reports klix.ba.

The session, which was held throughout the day, had two items on the agenda – the Draft Constitution of RS and the Draft Law on the Protection of the Constitutional System of RS, proposed by the ethnic separatist president, Milorad Dodik, which was also approved.

The draft of the new Constitution was published earlier and it provides for the creation of the RS army, as well as the possibility of joining military alliances with other states. Some of the laws are the right to confederate with another state, the abolition of the status of constituency, the possibility of managing state property.

The session of the Special Assembly of the Republika Srpska discussed whether the entity needs a new Constitution, and President Nenad Stevandic continued today the anti-democratic practice of leading the session unilaterally. During the day, the entire SDS Club was expelled from the hall, and this happened again yesterday when three deputies – Igor Crnadak, Nebojsa Vukanovic and Djordje Vucinic – were expelled.

Furthermore, Stevandic often prevented opposition members from speaking, while allowing ruling coalition MPs to insult the opposition, and Stevandic himself has said insulting and unacceptable words for the Assembly. /Telegraph/
