Republican Congresswoman in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, Anna Paulina Luna, has reacted after the prosecutor's office in Milan launched an investigation into allegations that wealthy individuals from several countries paid for sniper killings of civilians during the siege of Sarajevo from 1992 to 1995.

She announced that she has initiated an investigation into these allegations in the US and that she is in contact with the Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Italian Embassy in the US.

"Paying to shoot civilians, and even worse, children, is a level of evil that our country cannot and will not tolerate. Both the Italian and Bosnian governments will share all information about any Americans who may be involved. If there are Americans involved, they deserve to be charged and prosecuted," she declared.

The documentary film "Sarajevo Safari", by Slovenian author Miran Zupanić, screened at the AJB Doc 2022 documentary film festival in Sarajevo, claims that mainly wealthy individuals from Italy and several other countries paid the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) to set up positions around Sarajevo and kill civilians with snipers. It is said that they did this mainly for fun.

After these allegations emerged, the then mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamin Karić (SDP), filed a criminal complaint to investigate these allegations.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office filed a case three years ago. The Milan Prosecutor's Office launched the investigation a few days ago.

Otherwise, around 100–110 thousand people died during the war in Bosnia (1992–1995), the majority of whom were Muslim civilians. /Telegraph/
