Referee Jose Munuera Montero suspended from weekend matches amid controversy with Real Madrid

Spanish referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero will not officiate next weekend's matches following speculation linking him to the Talentus Sport company.

A renowned Spanish referee sent off Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham for a remark the Englishman made that he considered an insult last week, sparking controversy in Spain.

But he did not stop to judge this week on this matter, but there are suspicions that he may have professional relationships with the company Talentus Sport, which has links to La Liga, UEFA and clubs such as Manchester City and PSG.

This has raised concerns about possible violations of the code of ethics.

The Spanish Football Federation and the Technical Referees Committee have taken a cautious approach, leaving the matter in the hands of the legal and compliance departments. Although no formal charges have been filed, Montero has deleted all traces of Talentus Sport from his LinkedIn profile, including deleting the profile itself.

Judges' contracts in Spain provide for exclusivity in professional relationships, but this does not completely prevent them from having interests in other companies.

However, the issue of incompatibility and conflicts of interest remains a concern. /Telegraph/
