Recent murders, Memli Krasniqi: PDK will initiate changes to the Criminal Code

PDK Chairman Memli Krasniqi said that insecurity has gripped the country after four murders in the last three days alone, demanding urgent action from institutions and announcing the initiation of amendments to the Criminal Code in the next legislature.

Krasniqi, in a Facebook post, said that no one should live in fear that an illegal weapon could take their life at any moment.

"These are lives stolen, families destroyed, and a society that continues to witness tragedy without any decisive state action. How many more lives must be lost before we accept that this is a national emergency? How many more families must be destroyed before we realize that easy access to guns and the state's failure to act decisively are a deadly combination?" he wrote.

Memli Krasniqi has warned that the Democratic Party of Kosovo, in the new legislature, after the consolidation of institutions and the new government, will initiate changes to the Criminal Code and relevant legislation to toughen penalties for illegal possession of weapons.

"Anyone who possesses or uses weapons illegally should face prison, without exception. Kosovo cannot be a place where human life loses value. It is time to come to our senses. It is time to choose life. Deepest condolences to the families of the victims!", he wrote.

Four murders have occurred in recent days, which have shocked the citizens of the country. On March 23 in Vushtrri, a 19-year-old was shot to death, on March 24, a man killed a woman and then himself in Stanoc, Vushtrri, while on Tuesday one person died and another was injured after an exchange of fire in the capital. /Telegraph/
