Real Madrid reach agreement with Bournemouth for Huijsen – beat Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool

Real Madrid have today sent an official offer for Dean Huijsen, bringing the saga surrounding the most sought-after young centre-back in Europe into its final stages. As Fabrizio Romano has learned, negotiations between the Royal Club and Huijsen's camp are ongoing, while MARCA calls the deal a done deal.

The Spanish club are determined to sign the 20-year-old and see him as a key defensive player for the next decade. Although Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all willing to pay his €50m release clause in the event of complications, Huijsen's priority remains one - the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to British media, Chelsea tried to lure Huijsen with a generous offer and a seven-year contract, but the young defender made it clear that he was only interested in Real Madrid, even at the cost of weaker financial terms.

Barcelona have also joined the race, but, according to sources close to the player, Huijsen "dreams of Madrid" and wants to be part of the new generation that will mark the era in the white shirt. In addition, Huijsen is a great desire of Xabi Alonso, who will soon officially take over at Real Madrid.

Dean Donny Huijsen Wijsmuller was born on April 14, 2005 in Amsterdam, but grew up playing football in Spain, where he moved with his family in 2010. He took his first steps at Costa Unida CF de Marbella, and at the age of ten he moved to Malaga.

Juventus signed him in 2021, where he quickly progressed through all the younger categories, and in the 2022/23 season. He scored up to 10 goals for the U19 and Next Gen teams, which is an extraordinary performance for a defender.

After making his debut for the Juventus first team in October 2023, Huijsen was loaned to Roma, where he scored 2 goals in 13 appearances and made a great impression. Bournemouth bought him in the summer of 2024 for €15 million, and Huijsen immediately became an indispensable member of the first team.

This season in the Premier League, he has made 29 appearances, scored 2 goals and played 2,224 minutes, picking up 9 yellow cards but no suspensions. His figures gain even more weight when you consider that Bournemouth have had 6 clean sheets with him on the pitch, and the defence has conceded a total of 28 goals in those matches.

Huijsen was the man of the match on several occasions, and with his physical potential (195 cm tall), sure-footedness on both feet and ability to keep the ball out of the defensive line, he attracted the attention of the biggest European clubs.

On the international stage, after playing for the Netherlands youth teams, he decided to play for Spain and has already made two appearances for the senior national team, including an assist in the Nations League. /Telegraph/
