Real Madrid are targeting a sensational summer move for Man City star
Real Madrid has begun preparations for the 2025/2026 season after being eliminated from the Champions League, with a focus on strengthening the midfield.
According to a report from SER chain, The club is considering Manchester City's Rodri as the ideal replacement for Toni Kroos, who left a huge void in the squad after his retirement last summer.
So far, Madrid has deferred long-term planning for the team as part of their financial structure dependent on results in European competitions.
With their elimination from the Champions League, they now know exactly where they stand in terms of revenue and bonuses that need to be paid to players.
The club is also banking on the huge profits from the Club World Cup, which is expected to ease their budget for reinforcements.
Rodri is being seen as a dream signing. The Ballon d'Or winner remains a key figure at Manchester City and is currently recovering from a serious knee injury.
Despite his importance to Pep Guardiola and with a contract expiring in 2027, Real Madrid's leaders believe they can negotiate a possible move.
A potential advantage for Madrid is the presence of Dani Carvajal, who is a close friend of Rodri from their time with the national team.
