Real Madrid's big target reaches personal agreement with Bayern Munich

Real Madrid could make a big transfer this summer as they aim to usher in a new era at the Santiago Bernabeu, but could find it difficult to sign one of their long-term targets, who looks increasingly close to signing with a European rival.

Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, with Xabi Alonso set to replace him. If that happens, Los Blancos will inevitably become one of the favourites to sign Florian Wirtz, who is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window.

Alonso and Wirtz have worked very well together over two and a half seasons, but it is uncertain whether they will continue their player-coach relationship at Real Madrid, given that the latter could go elsewhere.

Wirtz is said to be keen on a move to Real Madrid, but he is also open to joining Bayern Munich.

According to journalist Santi Aouna from Footmarket, Wirtz has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga champions who will soon be declared champions again this season.

The prospect of Wirtz playing alongside the likes of Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Michael Oliseh is something Bayern fans will be delighted with and a deal is now a step closer. But there is still a chance Real Madrid could sign him, as an agreement has yet to be reached between the two Bundesliga clubs.

Manchester City are also interested in Wirtz, but at the moment, the only club the German international has agreed a deal with is Bayern.

Real Madrid could look to do this in the coming weeks, although a deal with Leverkusen may not be possible unless they make significant sales in the summer - which could happen, given that Rodrygo Goes could leave in order to raise funds. /Telegraph/
