Raye stripped down to her underwear to make a powerful statement about body dysmorphia.

The singer, 25, was on stage at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday for a live performance of the album when she began taking off her clothes during her hit song, "Body Dysmorphia."

She has spoken candidly about her battle with the mental health condition - where you worry intensely about your appearance - through her lyrics.

In front of a cheering crowd, Raye removed her corset and panties as she stripped down to her white underwear, holding on as she delivered the emotional lyrics.

She remained in her underwear to perform her next song, "Ice Cream Man," telling the audience: "I'm taking my clothes off at the Royal Albert Hall!"

Detailing her experience in an Instagram post after the show, Raye wrote: "The show of my career, I can't handle this, I'm losing my mind reflecting on this show."

Raye previously spoke about her battle with body dysmorphia after being asked on Capital FM 'what do you see when you look in the mirror?'.

"I don't know. It's a very 50/50 experience. Maybe a lot of people can relate. Sometimes you'll look in the mirror and be like 'this is good' or 'this is good,' and then sometimes you'll feel like the opposite," the artist had said.

"But that's okay, it's just part of life and I think it's something I'm working hard on. I don't think it's good to spend too much time in the mirror, or you'll just start showing all the flaws. I just use music as my therapy to try and process things," the star said.

Raye's album "My 21st Century Blues" is her first project following her departure from Polydor Records in 2021.

The singer touches on substance abuse, sexual assault and violence, and anxiety in her lyrics, and has previously explained why she didn't want to shy away from 'difficult' topics.

"I just want to be a woman who discusses uncomfortable topics that we don't talk about, these are all things that I've struggled with in the dark and in silence," the singer said.

"You hope to write about these songs and put them out into the world, you just hope that people will listen to them and connect with them as well. It's very medicinal in a way that you have a different feel to it to give it a pretty painful emotion," the artist said.

"For me it's very empowering and I hope it can be medicine for anyone else who needs it," she said.

The songs were ones Raye had been working on for years but was unable to do while locked in a battle with her old label Polydor, which she says 'controlled and manipulated' her.

By 2021, outsiders saw Raye — who first rose to fame by featuring on Jonas Blue's 2016 song "By Your Side" — flourishing after having seven top XNUMX hits to her name and songwriting credits for Beyonce, John Legend, and Charli XCX.

But she felt trapped in a four-album deal without an album to her name.

She informed the world of her situation in a powerful Twitter post posted when she had her 'turning point' and was able to leave the label last year. /Telegraph/
