An albino squirrel was spotted on Wednesday, January 14, on the National Mall in Washington, DC, USA.

The footage showed the squirrel with all-white fur moving across the grass, while other squirrels gathered around it.

National Guard members were also seen feeding squirrels in the area.

Albinism is a rare genetic condition that causes partial or complete loss of pigmentation and occurs in squirrels in about one in 100 births.

Scientists estimate that only about 20 albino squirrels exist among the nearly two million squirrels in the US. /AA
