Rama: From January there will be no salary below 500 euros
The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, declared today that from January 2026 in the Republic of Albania there will be no salary below 500 euros.
In the 6th episode of season 5 of the podcast "Flasim", in the "Weekly Notes" section, Prime Minister Rama said that "the news about pensions was followed by the increase in wages, a significant increase that extended to all sectors, but above all dictated by the promised increase in the minimum wage."
"From January of this year, when the minimum wage in the public and private sectors is set, when the law we will pass in parliament on the 2026 budget will sanction that in the Republic of Albania there will be no salary below 500 euros," Rama stressed.
For 2026, the minimum wage will increase by 10 thousand lek, reaching 50 thousand lek from January 1, 2026, to be further increased to 70 thousand lek by the end of the mandate, writes ATSh.
The total cost of salary increases and indexation is expected to be around 10 billion lek and will include over 144 thousand employees at all levels of administration.
