Rama continues to defend Veliaj: He was arrested without being a defendant, the prosecutor does not have sufficient evidence

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama once again came face to face with the people on Tuesday morning, continuing to talk about Erion Veliaj and SPAK.

The head of government began by explaining the difference between a suspect and a defendant.

"The difference between a suspect and a defendant. A suspect is someone for whom the prosecution itself knows that it does not have sufficient evidence to request his imprisonment. While a defendant is someone for whom the prosecutor requests imprisonment by telling the judge that there is evidence and the trial should begin. Did you know that the head of the Municipality of Tirana, for whom a measure of arrest with imprisonment was issued, is not a defendant? The prosecutor does not have sufficient evidence, but, according to him, he has sufficient suspicions. To be very clear, for all those who say that Edi Rama went mad, attacked SPAK, I say that if you do not defend Rama in his battle with the SP, there is no SPAK. This is clear. There would not be and there is no SPAK, because the "swamp owl" has said: give me the vote to dissolve SPAK! I and the SP guarantee SPAK", said Rama.

"I do not dispute any evidence, opposing SPAK. But, Erion's status as a suspect and not a defendant. I have asked to be given only one paragraph from that file that shows that the mayor has committed any act in violation of the law," Rama added.

The prime minister then asked his followers if he found it normal for a sitting mayor to be removed from office and taken to prison without trial.

"No matter how great the suspicions are, they are still insufficient to raise an accusation. How can this be called an attack on SPAK, when it is raising a problem that is so principled?" Rama said. /Telegraph/
