Today is the deadline for submitting lists of candidates for deputies from political parties competing in the May 11 elections. Both the DP and the SP do not yet have a final list, but the names of the candidates will be made official this afternoon.
Prime Minister Edi Rama will convene the Socialist Party Presidency at 19:00. Before the meeting, he will hold a meeting with the political leader for the diaspora, Taulant Balla. The socialist leader has confirmed that the deputies will be on the open list and the regional leaders on the safe list.
Also expected is the decision of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who for the first time said that he may not run as an MP.
Meanwhile, the names selected by the Democratic Party will be filtered by the Presidency at 17:00, which will also take into account the candidates' commitment to diaspora registration. Then, at 19:00, the National Council will approve the list filtered by the Presidency, which will be submitted to the Central Election Commission by midnight on March 12.
