The Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, emphasized today on the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence that February 17 is a summary of sacrifices, endurance and faith in the sanctity of freedom.

In a statement to the media, Rama emphasized that the country's freedom bears faces, names and living stories, built on the sacrifice of political prisoners, the peaceful vision of Dr. Ibrahim Rugova and the blood of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

"February 17 is a dividing line between eras, it is a summary of sacrifice, resistance and our collective belief in the sanctity of freedom. And this freedom bears names, bears faces, bears living stories. It was built on the sacrifice of political prisoners who kept the spirit of resistance alive in the most difficult years. It was strengthened through the peaceful and state-forming vision of Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, it was sealed with the blood of the liberation war of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and it was crowned with the international partnership that transformed our right into a state reality," said Rama.

Rama added that the liberation war remains the foundation on which the state of Kosovo stands.

"The liberation war remains the foundation on which our state stands. Justice remains the bridge that connects the past with the future. Honor to our liberators, justice for our history," he said. /Telegraph/
