Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that there will be an extra 15 million euros in the state budget to serve Oncology patients.

"Focusing on the fight against cancer and the need for expensive drugs that this fight requires. For the first time, we are opening a funding line from the state budget solely for this vital need, introducing an extra 15 million euros into the service of Oncology patients. The breast reconstruction service for women and girls who go through cancer will be provided in full and free of charge," he said.


Rama said that the Minister of Health has been declared among the 100 most influential women in world medicine for issues in the field of oncology and will lead the national project for the establishment of the National Tumor Institute for Albania 2030, a new institution of excellence that will join the international network of institutes fighting cancer.

Prime Minister Rama also announced that there will be further salary increases for healthcare workers.

"4,600 doctors, nurses and pharmacists, as well as 14,200 technicians and laboratory technicians will benefit from a new salary increase, which is a clear message to the new generation of white shirts that in Albania one stays and works with dignity. Albania 2030 will become a place where leaving will be simply an individual choice, not an imposition from the inability to stay and work here," said Rama. /euronews.al/
