Prime Minister Edi Rama said that through hydropower plants, he aims to sell renewable energy to European Union countries, through a joint project with Italy and the United Arab Emirates.

"We have 100% renewable energy. We have no energy from fossil fuels. We depend on the mood of Allah. When Allah laughs a lot and does not cry, then we have no rain and we have to resort to imports. In recent years, we have invested heavily in solar and wind energy," Rama said in his speech at the Sustainable Development Week Summit panel in Abu Dhabi.

"The plan is going well and we believe that by the end of 2028 we will be completely sovereign. We will no longer buy energy from abroad. In the meantime, we also have a strategic cooperation. Our ambition is to have a trilateral cooperation together with the United Arab Emirates and Italy, to create a load base in Albania. Dr. Sultan, may God bless him, is aiming to reach 3 Giga and through the interconnection cable with Italy, to serve Europe with green energy and of course together with our Arab friends to make money, to sell it to Europe", Rama added.
