The White House has reacted to Prime Minister Rama's comments in the form of a joke about President Donald Trump, a joke made in the presence of French President Macron and Azerbaijani President Aliyev.
Asked about these jokes, White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly had a completely diplomatic response.
"President Trump has done more for global stability than any other leader in the world!"
The senior media communications officer was extremely careful, simply reminding the Prime Minister of a fact that the President often mentions in his public appearances: the positive will to reach a peace agreement.
Rama's comments in the presence of two other leaders were described as mocking by some of the world's most prestigious media outlets, but it was the Prime Minister himself who denied it, saying that a moment of joy had been turned into a malicious act.
