Heavy rainfall has caused flooding and problems in several areas of the Elbasan District. The number of flooded homes has reached 15, mainly in the area of the former Metallurgical Plant and in the Belsh Municipality.
According to reports, five homes have been flooded in the area known as Plant 12, while over ten other homes have been affected in the territory of the Belsh Municipality. The risk of water intrusion is also reported in several homes in the Cërrik Municipality, due to blockages and lack of maintenance of drainage channels.
In the city of Elbasan, the flooding of the first floors of several apartments is related to problems in the drainage canal, near the works being carried out by the Salillari company as part of the construction of Corridor VIII. In some cases, the intervention to unblock the situation was carried out by the company itself, while other residents were forced to intervene privately.
Albert Muça, a resident of the village of Katund i Ri, says that he faced the situation alone, pumping water out of his apartment, while the material damage was considerable.
Flooding has also been recorded in the agricultural lands of the Gjergjan Administrative Unit, as well as in the Muriqan field, due to the blockage of drainage channels that run through these areas.
No emergency situations are reported in other municipalities in the region. National and rural road axes are open to traffic, while on the Gramsh-Moglica axis there was a fall of inert materials, which were cleaned up by the contracting firm.
Authorities report that river and stream flows are at average levels and currently do not pose a risk.
Meanwhile, the bad weather has also caused problems with the electricity supply. During the night, power outages were recorded in several areas, while the feeder in the Përparim Administrative Unit in the Peqin Municipality, the Klos-Mollas feeder in the Cërrik Municipality, and the 2nd feeder of the Prrenjas Substation are currently out of service.
In total, 514 subscribers in the Elbasan Region are without electricity. OSHEE teams are on the ground and are working to repair the damage, while authorities assure that the power supply will be restored within a short time./euronews/
