Rainfall accompanied by strong winds has covered the entire territory of the Gjirokastër district. In the municipality of Tepelena, in the early morning hours of January 6, 2026, problems were identified on the Tepelena-Gjirokastër road axis, in the place called "Black Stair", as a result of the fall of inert materials from the mountain slopes. Currently, the road is only passable with one passage.

State Police services, as well as the contracting firm responsible for the maintenance of this road axis, are at the scene, working to normalize the situation and guarantee traffic safety.

According to official data, the Vjosa and Drino rivers appear at normal levels and there is no risk of flooding.

The supply of drinking water and electricity continues normally throughout the Gjirokastra region, while no emergency situations are reported from other municipalities.

Authorities remain in constant monitoring of the situation. /rtsh.al/
