Rafuna: We have the highest inflation in Europe, citizens are becoming poorer

The President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KKC), Lulzim Rafuna, has raised the alarm over the continued increase in inflation in the country.
Commenting on the data published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for December 2025, Rafuna said on TV Dukagjini that the average annual inflation rate (for 2025) of 3,9 percent is worrying and much higher compared to European countries.
"We hope that the new government that will be established will have a package that will help citizens to notice as little inflation as possible. We have an inflation increase of 3.9 percent, I strongly believe that in the review by ASK it will exceed 4 percent. We have the highest inflation not only in the Balkans but also in Europe.
In Europe, the inflation rate is currently around 1.2 to 1.3, while in our country it has reached 3.9 and will even exceed 4 percent. This was expected, if you remember, we have expressed concern many times about the decision to take businesses out of the open (energy) market.
The price of electricity, as can be seen from ASK data, is one of the highest increases. This has led to such inflation. And this means that we have an impoverishment of citizens, a decrease in the standard of living. For this reason, it is urgent to undertake a package to mitigate inflation and not allow it to go even higher," said Rafuna.
