CEC decides: 28 municipalities will undergo a full recount of votes

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has decided to conduct a full recount of all votes from the December 28, 2025 elections in 28 municipalities.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Kreshnik Radoniqi, has stated that the vote recount process has highlighted significant inaccuracies in the counting of candidates' votes, while the votes of political entities are largely accurate.
During the CEC meeting, Radoniqi announced that the institution has received the report from the recount process that is taking place at the Counting and Results Center (CRC).
"Today we received the report from the recount process that is taking place at the CRC. Currently, 914 polling stations are in the recount process, according to the CEC decision. In 10 municipalities, a full recount is being carried out, while in 28 other municipalities, about 10 percent of polling stations are being recounted," Radoniqi declared.
He added that the CEC accepted the report after recounting more than half of the polling stations, with data dated January 13.
"The report shows that the changes in the votes of political entities are minimal and almost negligible, which proves that their counting was done correctly. Meanwhile, the situation is different regarding the votes of candidates. The data after the recount show a high degree of inaccuracy in the counting of the votes of candidates. The recount results that 36 thousand and 7 votes were deducted from the candidates, which were incorrectly registered in the CNR, while 20 thousand and 978 votes were added to the candidates, as they were not registered correctly during the initial counting," he said.
Radoniqi emphasized that the numerical analysis singles out the Municipality of Prizren as the most extreme case in terms of counting discrepancies.
He announced that before the CEC meeting, two main recommendations were given at the meeting of the Electoral Operations Council: recounting all polling stations in the other 28 municipalities; terminating the mandate of representatives of political entities in the Municipal Election Commission in the Municipality of Prizren.
Radoniqi also emphasized that the findings from the recount process will be addressed to the State Prosecutor's Office, adding that the CEC will provide full institutional cooperation during the investigative process. /Telegrafi/
