RTK workers go on strike over delayed salaries

Workers at Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) have launched a one-hour strike, as a result of the public broadcaster's non-allocation of its budget, which has resulted in their salaries remaining unpaid for 17 days.
Gëzim Bimbashi, president of the RTK Workers' Union, has asked the government to find a legal solution, emphasizing that the situation is urgent.

He warned that a broader strike with severe measures will begin next Monday, adding that the legal aspect will also be considered and that workers will be notified in due course during the week.
The President of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo (BSPK), Atdhe Hykolli, expressed the union's support for RTK workers.
"It is unacceptable that RTK workers have not received their salaries for several weeks," he said.

Media lawyer Flutura Kusari commented that this situation is a consequence of political pressure and politicized decisions, adding that financial pressure is now being exerted to "bring" workers to their knees.
Meanwhile, the vice president of the United Trade Union of Education, Science and Culture (SBASHK), Vjollca Shala, stated that SBASHK stands in solidarity with RTK workers in their demand for unpaid salaries. /Telegraph/
