Following the election of Krenare Latifi Kçiku as chairwoman of the Gjilan Municipal Assembly, the mayor, Alban Hyseni, announced the holding of an extraordinary session on Friday to approve the 2026 budget.

"Proud Latifi Kçiku has been elected Speaker of the Assembly and we have just signed the invitation for the extraordinary session, where the 2026 budget will be voted on," said Hyseni after the vote.

The Speaker stressed that the budget proposal is the same as the one submitted late last year, which had not yet passed the Assembly. He added that, although the number of votes is sufficient for its approval, the executive is ready for dialogue with opposition entities.

"We express our willingness to cooperate with opposition entities and invite them to vote on the municipal budget," said Hyseni, emphasizing that any important budget proposal can be submitted until Friday.

He also underlined the importance of approving the budget: "The budget issue is very important, where last year the municipality suffered a lot. We are interested in this year's budget not remaining a problem, but uniting all political entities and receiving approval on Friday."

This extraordinary session will be a test of cooperation between the government and the opposition, as the Speaker of the Assembly, Kçiku, will play a key role in leading the discussions and procedures for the approval of the budget. /Telegrafi/
