The Economic Crimes Unit of the Kosovo Police and a number of prosecutors from the Basic Prosecution Office of Prizren are carrying out a major operation in several cities in Kosovo.

The news was confirmed to the Telegraph by the Chief Prosecutor of Prizren, Petrit Kryeziu.

"It is underway. We are on the ground," Kryeziu said briefly.

The action is taking place in the regions of Prizren, Pristina, Peja, Gjilan, Ferizaj, Mitrovica and Gjakova.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the properties of former directors of the Kosovo Insurance Bureau (KIB) are the target of a massive raid.

KALLXO.com reveals other details about the operation of the Prizren Prosecution Office. The action was directed by eight prosecutors and led by the Chief Prosecutor of Prizren, Petrit Kryeziu.

The list of suspects includes 45 citizens, the Executive Director of the Kosovo Insurance Bureau (KIB), and the Finance Director of this bureau. They are suspected of having illegally benefited by abusing their official position and trust.

The main role in the damage allegedly caused to the Bureau's budget, worth over 1 million euros, was played by two senior BKS officials: Sami Mazreku and Valon Berisha, the latter in his capacity as director of finance.

According to suspicions, Mazreku and Berisha have taken over the bank accounts of 45 citizens, to whom they have transferred financial funds through pre-prepared agreements, from which they have benefited thousands of euros.

They are also suspected of having identified citizens involved in traffic accidents, to whom money was transferred under the pretext of compensation for damages. Agreements were made with these citizens that a small portion of the funds would remain with them, while the majority of the transferred amount would end up with Mazreku and Berisha.
