The director of the Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI), Ismet Kryeziu, has said that the Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, should resign after the scandal of the distribution of sex education manuals.
Kryeziu has stated that the Government's irresponsible behavior risks inciting negative reactions from citizens to the topic of sexual education and reproductive health.
"In an ethical and integrity government, Minister Nagavci would have to resign after the scandal and mistakes in the handbooks," said Kryeziu.
He added that the irresponsible behavior of the Government and the Minister of Education not only violates the standards of ethical governance and public responsibility, but also risks promoting negative reactions to sexual education and reproductive health.
Kryeziu underlined that the manuals can be rewritten and improved, but the minister must take responsibility for what happens in her department, otherwise the whole idea of sexual education is at risk.
“Sex and reproductive health education is not a subject to encourage inappropriate behavior in children; on the contrary, it is to give them knowledge that protects them from dangers and misunderstandings," he concluded./Telegrafi/
