Premier League issues official statement on Harry Maguire's disallowed goal
Harry Maguire scored the first goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to give Manchester United a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Unfortunately, he was ruled offside by barely a millimetre in what was a heartbreaking decision for the visitors.
Now, the Premier League has released the following statement, explaining their decision: "VAR reviewed the referee's decision on the goal - and determined that Maguire was in an offside position and recommended that the goal be disallowed."
There was also a questionable penalty against Chelsea, when Rasmus Hojlund handled inside the Man United area, with Enzo Fernandez firing a shot towards goal.
But the referee and the VAR room remained silent, allowing the game to continue without any check or clarification.
Both teams remain tied 0-0 at Stamford Bridge so far, with the first half already over. /Telegraph/
