Possible recount of votes throughout Kosovo, says CEC spokesperson

All cities in Kosovo may be included in a full vote recount process for the December 28 snap parliamentary elections, depending on the findings emerging from the current recount process.
The recount of votes so far has brought significant changes in the number of votes of individual candidates, with some gaining and some losing votes, although the balance between political parties has remained almost unchanged.
The most pronounced discrepancies were identified in the municipality of Prizren, raising serious concerns about miscounting during the initial process.
After the recount in several municipalities, the largest changes were observed among the candidates of the three main political parties, especially in the Prizren region, where the differences were more pronounced compared to other municipalities.
Will there be a recount across the country?
The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, stated to KosovaPress that the CEC does not rule out the possibility of a new decision to recount other polling stations, depending on the findings emerging from the current process.
"Currently, the CEC has not made any other decision," said Elezi, adding that every next step will depend on the results and evidence emerging from the recount in the municipalities involved.
According to the CEC decision of January 13, 2026, the full recount of votes is scheduled to take place in 10 municipalities, while in 28 other municipalities only 10 percent of their polling stations will be recounted.
Prosecution: Vote abuses have been identified
Meanwhile, the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren has announced that, as an institution of the State Prosecutor, it has monitored the recount process of election results from outside.
According to the Prosecutor's Office's announcement, now that the recount process is nearing its end, obvious misuse of votes has been identified during the counting within political entities, especially in the Prizren region.
At the Counting and Results Center, the recount of ballots is continuing according to the list of polling stations for which the CEC has decided to be included in this process.
Over half of the polling stations have already been recounted.
According to official data, from the beginning of this process until now, about 56 percent of polling stations have been recounted, or 509 out of a total of 914 polling stations scheduled for recount.
The recount included the municipalities of: Deçan (5/5), Gjakova (15/15), Gllogovc (7/7), Gjilan (13/13), Dragash (57/57), Istog (6/6), Kaçanik (45/45), Klina (6/6), Fushë Kosovë (6/6), Kamenicë (5/5), South Mitrovica (10/10), Leposaviq (25/25), Lipjan (9/9), Novobërdë (2/2), Obiliq (3/3), Rahovec (8/8), Peja (14/14), Podujeva (11/11), Prishtina (26/26), Prizren (232/235) and Skenderaj (4/72).
According to the CEC, so far the recount has been completed in 19 municipalities. The process will then continue in other municipalities, according to the determined order./Telegrafi
