Police with operational plan for Independence Day, several roads blocked

On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo, the Kosovo Police (KP) has undertaken the necessary operational and preventive planning measures, by drafting a special operational plan, to ensure that the progress of the manifestation events passes peacefully and festively, enabling the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to celebrate the country's Independence Day.
This year, "RKS Independence Day" will be marked mainly with cultural events, activities and various manifestations, these events starting on 16.02.2026 and continuing according to the state agenda with various manifestations, including the activities planned for February 17, which also includes the parade of the Kosovo Security Force and the Kosovo Police.
The purpose of police operational planning through this special operational order is, among other things: maintaining order, public peace and law enforcement, increasing security measures to guarantee order, peace and public safety in the country, providing increased security before, during and after the development of various activities and manifestations organized by state institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, increasing the level of police responsibility in monitoring, reacting and taking actions in accordance with the development of the situation, to provide security for all citizens during the development of manifesting activities throughout the country.
Based on the state agenda, where various activities are foreseen, including the overtaking of the KSF and KP, there will be temporary interruptions to road traffic in several road segments of the capital:
The traffic disruption is expected to begin at 07:00 on operational roads, Fehmi Agani Street, Luan Haradinaj Street, Kostra Novakovic Street, Tirana - Railway Street on the return one lane, as well as Robert Doll Street one lane for parking buses and trucks for KP and KSF personnel.
In order to avoid possible traffic jams and facilitate traffic flow for the planned activities, citizens and traffic participants are requested to avoid using these roads and to take alternative routes, where traffic police units will take care of this.
The Kosovo Police requests full understanding from citizens and traffic participants and at the same time thanks them for the continued cooperation shown with the KP.
