Kosovo Police have conducted checks in three different locations in the north of the country, where weapons, ammunition and other illegal means were found.

According to the announcement of the Mitrovica North Regional Police Directorate, in the course of receiving information from citizens, today, on 17.02.2026, it has received information that there may be weapons, ammunition and other illegal means in three locations.


As a result, police actions were taken by conducting checks at three locations.

The incident occurred at around 01:20, police units searched an uninhabited house in the village of Jagnjenic, Zubin Potok, where 95 cartridges of various calibers and 1 emblem and several shoulder straps of the Serbian Police were found and seized.

Case II was discovered at around 09:20, during a search of a barn of an abandoned house in the village of Žitkovc, Zvečan Municipality, the following were found and seized: 1 AK-47 weapon; 1 M-57 hand grenade, Yugoslav production; 3 empty AK-47 magazines; 85 7.9 mm caliber cartridges; 2 military uniforms with Serbian emblems; 60 AK-47 cartridges.

Case III at around 12:20, in an uninhabited house in the village of Varage, Zubin Potok, were seized: 1 hand grenade and 50 7.62 mm caliber cartridges.

Regarding these cases, the Police informs that "in cases II and III, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) units also arrived at the scene and removed the explosive devices in a controlled manner."

All police actions were undertaken in full coordination with the State Prosecutor, who has instructed the initiation of cases for the criminal offense: 'Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons'.

Police add that no arrests have been made in connection with these cases.
